TWINT for the self-employed: fees, QR code and payment at booking

How to accept TWINT as a self-employed person or small business, what it costs, and how your clients pay with TWINT when they book online.

Three ways to accept TWINT

Many clients in Switzerland prefer to pay with TWINT. As a self-employed person you have three ways to accept it: a QR code clients scan on site, a payment terminal through a payment provider, or payment directly when clients book online.

They differ in when the money arrives and what it costs. The table sums them up, as of October 2026.

What TWINT costs businesses

For the QR code sticker, TWINT says it charges 1.3% of the amount, with no fixed fee per payment and no monthly costs. For a CHF 120 appointment that is CHF 1.56.

With a payment terminal, the fee is set not by TWINT but by the payment provider you have a contract with. TWINT names Worldline, Payrexx, PostFinance, Nexi and myPOS among others. Compare their current prices before you decide.

Online, TWINT runs through a payment provider such as Stripe, which charges a fee per payment. Current rates are on Stripe's pricing page.

A TWINT QR code for your business

The QR code sticker suits businesses whose clients pay on site, for example at the end of an appointment in a salon or practice. Clients scan the code with the TWINT app and pay. You don't need a terminal.

The drawback: you only get paid after the appointment. A client who doesn't show up pays nothing, and late cancellations are your loss.

TWINT at online booking

With Zitli, clients pay when they book, with TWINT or by card: the whole session or a deposit. If a booking isn't paid, Zitli frees the slot again.

Zitli doesn't earn from your payments. There is no Zitli fee, only Stripe's fee. You set up the payment account in Zitli, step by step; switching on TWINT can take a few days. TWINT is available for appointments priced in francs and is included in Zitli Pro.

What your booking page must show

TWINT requires the business name, address and email address to be shown where clients pay, plus the phone number if you give one. Zitli shows these details at the foot of your booking page. Before you switch on TWINT, you see exactly what will be public. Your IBAN is never shown.

Which option suits you

If your clients pay on site and turn up reliably, the QR code is enough. If you take appointments online, payment at booking is worth it: the money is there before the appointment, and you don't have to chase anyone.

You can combine them. For clients who prefer to pay by invoice, Zitli creates a Swiss QR-bill after the appointment.
